Clean Your Rugs and Preserve Your Investment!

Hiring a professional oriental rug cleaning service is an essential part of preserving the value, beauty and integrity of your antique rugs and textile investments. At Slocum Rug Gallery, our antique rug restoration experts and professional carpet cleaners have been cleaning antique rugs and textiles for the past 30 years. To us, cleaning an old rug goes beyond removing the surface dirt, it’s also an important aspect of maintaining the natural fibers and carpet structure. Our expert rug cleaners are trained to clean carpets and textiles made from all natural fibers, including cotton, wool and silk. For the past three decades our antique rug cleaning team has reinvigorated valuable textiles and carpets made with sensitive colors and delicate natural fibers.

Spotting Guide

The following three solutions will be required together with a dry cleaning solvent and some white absorbent cloth or tissue.

  1. Detergent solution – One teaspoon of neutral detergent, such as “Woolite”, to 1/2 pint (1/4 litre) of warm water.
  2. Detergent/Vinegar Solution – Add one teaspoon of white vinegar to the detergent solution.
  3. Ammonia Solution – One teaspoon of household ammonia to one cup of warm water. Test the solution on a small out-of-the-way area, then tackle the stain by working from the outer edge towards the center. Check for color fastness prior to carrying out any wet process on your carpet.
